Body Shaping

Frequent weight gain and loss, rapid and excessive weight loss, pregnancy, genetic factors, nutrition, environmental factors, not doing regular sports and the natural process of aging cause deformations in our torso, hips and legs that none of us are very happy with. This is where aesthetic surgery comes into play and offers a wide range of effective alternatives to correct these changes and deformations for patients who are uncomfortable with them.

Surgeries performed for body shaping are divided into three periods: preoperative period, surgical period and postoperative period. Diet and exercise are the most important components, especially in the postoperative period. During this period, the addition of treatment with special devices that increase skin tightening and lymph drainage perfects the results.

Liposuction and fat injections are almost indispensable for body shaping operations. In addition to these procedures, removing excess skin of poor quality and restoring sagging tissues due to gravity to their ideal positions are other important components of body shaping operations.

In this sense, it is best to divide patients who are planned to undergo body shaping surgery into two groups: patients with excess skin and irregularities, and patients without.

In patients with no visible excess skin and good skin quality, liposuction and fat tissue injections can generally be sufficient to achieve the desired results. The issue that our patients sometimes misunderstand about liposuction is that this procedure is seen only as a weight loss method. The liposuction method is essentially a body shaping method, and that is, if we consume more calories than we burn after this procedure, we will gain weight somehow. Maybe not from the same place, but we will gain that weight. In this sense, it is important for our patients to avoid excessive calorie intake after the operation and to exercise if possible. Since the liposuction method is found almost everywhere in the body, it can be used to thin the thickness in every area from the neck to the ankle.

We use the fats we take with liposuction in body shaping mostly in the breast, hip and leg areas. We currently have 2 very effective methods in shaping these areas; fat injections and implants. Unfortunately, other than these, long-term or permanent methods and substances are not proven reliable and have not been FDA approved, and there is a possibility of long-term harmful effects. Collagen and other reliable components that are building blocks have a limited stay in the tissues of 1-2 years and are expensive and are used in more limited areas.

In our patients with deteriorated skin quality and sagging, in addition to these methods, it is necessary to remove excess skin and reshape the tissues. Of course, it is inevitable that there will be a scar in these areas after these operations. However, with appropriate plastic surgery techniques, these scars are hidden and their visibility decreases over time.

Another issue that should be mentioned here is the lipoabdominoplasty method, which is a tummy tuck surgery that we call abdominoplasty, where liposuction is applied to the entire abdominal area with newly developed techniques and then, unlike the classic abdominoplasty operation, the abdominal skin is not lifted from the base and it is performed with a much shorter scar and allows for an early return to normal life. Thanks to this method, a much shorter scar is achieved compared to the old method, thanks to liposuction, the entire abdominal area is thinned and the waist curve is re-emerged and a serious decrease in undesirable results is achieved after the operation. Of course, it is important for our patients to prefer and be informed about clinics that are knowledgeable about this method and apply it.
